Description
Spartan Commercial-Grade Heavy-Duty Portable Pickleball Net
Plays like a permanent court. Rolls off when you’re done.
You may be asking: Can a quality American-manufactured portable pickleball net really be sold for less than the imported brand names?
Yes. But don’t take our word for it.
“We have two of these pickleball nets and they are just fantastic. I’ve played on permanent net posts, temp nets, the Selkirk 001, and everything in between. This is the best. And for the money, it’s not even close.”

About the Titan Zinc Primer Upgrade
Every system ships standard with a commercial powder coat finish — the same finish used across the outdoor sports equipment industry. The Titan Zinc Primer is an optional upgrade that adds a sacrificial zinc layer between the steel and the powder coat. If the powder coat ever gets chipped deep enough to expose the steel, the zinc underneath corrodes first and stops rust from spreading. It’s a personal choice — most owners are well-served by the standard finish. The upgrade is there for buyers who want to maximize the investment or minimize long-term maintenance.
Why We Build With Steel Instead of Aluminum
Aluminum is cheaper to fabricate. We built with steel anyway. Here’s the thinking.
- Steel holds its line under load. Aluminum flexes. By the numbers, steel is roughly three times stiffer than aluminum — a real difference you can feel in net tension.
- Drop a steel frame and it stays straight. Drop aluminum and it stays bent. Portable nets get knocked around. Aluminum deforms permanently from impact. Steel takes the hit and recovers.
- Aluminum doesn’t rust — but it dulls, chalks, and pits over time. That weathered finish can’t be buffed back. Powder-coated steel, with basic care, keeps its finish for years.
- Look at any commercial tennis or pickleball facility. The equipment is powder-coated steel. Both sports share the same equipment standards, and neither uses aluminum at the commercial level. That’s not coincidence.
What’s Inside the System
- External Tensioning Crank. Galvanized steel winder with a removable handle for accurate, repeatable net tension.
- Full 22′ Span, No Center Support. The frame stays rigid edge to edge — no center support to interrupt play.
- 6″ Ground Clearance. The bottom rail sits high enough that balls can be rolled under the net.
- Breaks Down for Storage. The frame disassembles into 5-foot sections that fit into a garage or storage closet.
- Assembly Time. Plan on 30 to 45 minutes for the first build. After that, takedown and re-setup runs 15 to 20 minutes.
About Spartan Athletic Mfg.
Our parent company, Spartan Athletic Co., has been in the sports equipment business since 2012. The founder holds a Certified Tennis Court Builder credential issued by the American Sports Builders Association — the national authority on sports facility construction. We’ve spent years building courts; we know what makes the equipment on them last.
In 2023 we opened Spartan Athletic Manufacturing, our in-house production division in Oaks, Pennsylvania. Every tennis post, pickleball post, and portable system we sell is fabricated and finished there.
- The people who built it answer the phone. Pick up the phone before or after the sale — you’ll talk to someone who knows the product.
- Parts on the shelf, always. Production runs daily. Five years from now, if something needs replacing, we’ll still have what you need.
- Made in America. Steel, welds, powder coat, and final assembly — all done in the United States.
“Having experienced gameplay on both Joola and Selkirk nets, I can unequivocally state that the Spartan net competes at par with them, all while being available at a fraction of the cost.”

Common Questions
Is this regulation for tournament play?
Yes. The system meets USAPA tournament specs: 22 feet wide, 36 inches at the posts, 34 inches at the center.
How long does setup take?
Plan on 30 to 45 minutes for the initial assembly. Subsequent breakdown and re-setup takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Can one person move it?
The system weighs 128 pounds. With the optional locking casters, a single person can roll it on and off the court easily.
Do I really need the locking casters?
Only if you plan to move the net. Skip the wheels if the system will stay in one location. Add them if you’ll move it between courts, in and out of storage, or across a multi-use surface.
Can wheels be added later?
No. Each system is built specifically for the wheel option you select — post heights differ between the wheeled and non-wheeled configurations.
Is the Titan Zinc Primer upgrade necessary?
Not at all. The standard powder coat is what ships on every system by default and is what’s used across the commercial outdoor equipment industry. The Titan Zinc Primer is for owners who want an additional corrosion barrier layered into the finish.
How does the warranty work?
Five years on the steel frame, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Where do replacement parts come from?
Directly from our shop. We build these systems daily and stock the parts on-site.
Can you build a custom size?
Yes. Call us with your specifications.
How does it ship?
One to three nets ship via UPS or FedEx ground. Four or more ship by LTL freight.
Why no tournament sponsorships or pro athlete endorsements?
Because we’d rather earn our reputation than buy one.
What you’re actually paying for
Open up almost any premium-priced portable net and you’ll find similar components to what we build with — steel, welds, powder coat, hardware. The difference is that a chunk of the price on the brand-name systems is going to tournament sponsorships, athlete endorsements, and the logo printed on the post. None of that shows up in how the net plays. Buy the equipment. Skip the marketing.

We have two of these Pickleball nets and they are just fantastic. Ive played on perm net posts, temp nets, the Selkirk 001, and everything in between. This is the best. And for the money, it’s not even close. I have Moneyball Pro tourney here and all the players just say “it’s the best they’ve played on. Perfect.”

Quality product, well made, super easy to build. Really fast shipping Pennsylvania to California three days. We bought two first one took 45 minutes to build, second one fifteen minutes. Great customer service. Highly recommended this net and company.

Nets are great. They are heavy duty and high quality. Easy to assemble. The players at my facility love them. I’d highly recommend this product to anyone looking for pickleball nets.

We have a small club with four outdoor courts. We decided to try two of the Spartan Nets on two of our courts. We are very happy with the nets and the cost savings over nets being used by APP and PPA are tremendous. While not as heavy duty as the leading nets, these were able to be shipped Fed Ex instead of motor freight. Overall, we are pleased with the nets, but there are a few areas the nets could be improved: 1- put the set screws on the bottom of the cross bar pieces for better weather resistance, 2- the cable crank on the inside of the net post interferes with the net and you can’t use the fiberglass dowel in this end of the net, 3- it would be nice to have a center strap included, 4- it would be good to have rubber feet under the end posts and center support. These are just suggestions for future improvements. We would buy these nets again.

After thoroughly testing the Spartan Heavy Duty Pickleball Net over the past few weeks, I can confidently assert that, considering cost, value, and quality, this net offers the best bang for your buck. Transitioning from the AllN net, which served as a commendable starter net, I found the Spartan net elevates the game to a whole new level. Having experienced gameplay on both Joola and Selkirk nets, I can unequivocally state that the Spartan net competes at par with them, all while being available at a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend this net without question.

After spending a lot of time researching all the nets out there, we decided on this net and couldn’t be happier. The net is very sturdy. The net tension is really good. It’s very easy to move. We received the net really fast as well. So overall a great buy.

Very solid and durable. Easy to put together. I was considering going with an aluminum net but I’m so happy I went with this metal frame.
Xavier Wu (verified owner) –
Solid construction. Adding to two Joola nets we have. I like this design without the center wheels as we found the Joola indented our tennis courts.
Jennifer (verified owner) –
The pickleball nets are good quality. They do the job well for our community center.

Glad we purchased

The heavy duty portable pickleball net is perfect for our club. No complaints on performance. We went with the no wheels version because we won’t be moving the nets much. Solid build. Easy intstall. Very happy.
