The MacGregor Safe/Soft line uses a three-level system to match ball firmness to player age and skill. Level 5 sits in the middle of the range, rated for the 8-12 age group where players are transitioning from introductory tee ball programs into competitive youth baseball. At this stage, players are seeing faster pitching, fielding harder-hit ground balls, and taking throws from longer distances across the infield. The Tri-Flex core absorbs enough impact energy to reduce injury risk during these higher-speed interactions while still providing realistic weight, flight, and bounce so players develop proper mechanics.
