Description

The GEAR Pro-Tec Varsity Rib Protector delivers targeted protection to the ribcage, obliques, and lower torso for high school varsity and collegiate football players. Worn beneath the shoulder pads, this protector covers the vulnerable zone between the bottom of the shoulder pad shell and the top of the hip pads — an area that absorbs significant punishment from blindside hits, crack-back blocks, and tackle impacts throughout the course of a game.

The varsity model is built with higher-density impact foam than youth rib protectors, reflecting the greater collision forces generated at the varsity and collegiate level. Multi-density foam layers work together to spread impact energy across the protector surface before it reaches the ribcage. The outer layer handles initial force distribution while the inner cushioning layer provides the final stage of energy absorption against the body.
