The steel rim on this wood discus provides enough rim weight for a stable, predictable flight path without the cost of a full composite or ABS plastic disc. At 60-70% rim weight, it falls within the range most coaches look for in a practice and competition discus at the middle school and high school level. The 2K model is the standard men’s high school competition weight, the 1.6K is used for women’s high school and intermediate events, and the 1K is the standard for youth and women’s competition.

This discus meets NFHS specifications, making it legal for sanctioned high school meets. It works well as a program workhorse for schools that need multiple discuses for practice rotations without a large per-unit investment.
