The Gear Pro-Tec Football Back Plate in Varsity protects the lumbar spine, lower back, and kidney area from rear impacts that standard shoulder pads leave exposed. Designed for high school varsity and collegiate athletes, this back plate attaches to the rear of the shoulder pad shell and extends downward to cover the vulnerable zone between the bottom of the shoulder pads and the top of the hip pads — an area targeted by blindside hits, low tackles, and pile-on impacts.

The varsity back plate uses multi-density foam padding to manage the high-energy collisions characteristic of upper-level football.
