Rigid Drag Mats

Description

The Rigid Drag Mat is a stiff-panel infield finishing tool that levels and smooths baseball and softball diamond surfaces after scarification or routine cleat traffic. Unlike flexible chain or mesh drag mats that conform closely to surface contours, a rigid drag mat bridges across low spots and shaves material off high points, producing a flatter, more consistent grade across the infield dirt. This makes rigid mats particularly effective for correcting minor grade irregularities that develop over the course of a game day or tournament weekend.

Rigid drag mats are commonly used as the finishing step in a multi-stage grooming process. After a nail drag or field groomer loosens compacted surface material, the rigid mat is towed across the infield to redistribute and level the freshly loosened dirt. The rigid profile ensures that the mat does not simply follow the existing contours of the surface — it actively cuts down high spots and fills in depressions to restore proper grade.

The mat connects to an ATV, utility vehicle, or riding mower via a tow chain. It can also be attached behind a nail drag as a second-stage finishing tool, allowing groundskeepers to scarify and finish in a single pass. The rigid construction is durable enough for daily use and resistant to the abrasive wear of infield clay and conditioner.
