About the Titan Zinc Primer Upgrade
Every PRO ships with our commercial powder coat finish by default — the standard finish across the outdoor sports equipment industry. The Titan Zinc Primer is an optional upgrade that layers sacrificial zinc between the steel and the powder coat. If the powder coat ever gets chipped deep enough to reach bare steel, the zinc beneath corrodes first, blocking rust from spreading further. The standard finish serves most owners well. The upgrade is for buyers who want to protect the investment long-term or stay hands-off on maintenance.
What You’re Getting With the PRO
The Spartan PRO is the top of our portable pickleball line. Every component steps up from the standard Heavy-Duty system — more steel, heavier frame, sealed stainless winder, full stainless casters available. We build it for homeowners, clubs, schools, and parks who want the best portable system on the market.
- 225 lbs total system weight. Roughly double the standard model. The frame holds its position under full regulation tension without sandbags, anchors, or any added weight.
- 3″ frame rails meeting 3.5″ connectors and center. The structural steel is roughly double the dimensions of our standard system. More steel means more margin under tension and more resilience under impact.
- Sealed stainless steel internal winder. Housed inside the post, protected from weather and tampering. Stainless teeth resist corrosion and keep their geometry far longer than brass or galvanized.
- Full stainless 360-degree locking casters (optional). The most corrosion-resistant wheel option in the lineup — built for year-round outdoor exposure and coastal environments.
- Identical play, identical setup. Regulation USAPA dimensions, supportless 22′ span, 6″ ground clearance for balls to pass under, modular 5-foot section breakdown for storage.
Why We Build With Steel Instead of Aluminum
Aluminum is cheaper to fabricate. We built with steel anyway. Here’s the thinking.
- Steel holds its line under load. Aluminum flexes. By the numbers, steel is roughly three times stiffer than aluminum — a real difference you can feel in net tension.
- Drop a steel frame and it stays straight. Drop aluminum and it stays bent. Portable nets get knocked around. Aluminum deforms permanently from impact. Steel takes the hit and recovers.
- Aluminum doesn’t rust — but it dulls, chalks, and pits over time. That weathered finish can’t be buffed back. Powder-coated steel, with basic care, keeps its finish for years.
- Look at any commercial tennis or pickleball facility. The equipment is powder-coated steel. Both sports share the same equipment standards, and neither uses aluminum at the commercial level. That’s not coincidence.
About Spartan Athletic Mfg.
Our parent company, Spartan Athletic Co., has been in the sports equipment business since 2012. The founder holds a Certified Tennis Court Builder credential issued by the American Sports Builders Association — the national authority on sports facility construction. We’ve spent years building courts; we know what makes the equipment on them last.
In 2023 we opened Spartan Athletic Manufacturing, our in-house production division in Oaks, Pennsylvania. Every tennis post, pickleball post, and portable system we sell is fabricated and finished there.
- The people who built it answer the phone. Pick up the phone before or after the sale — you’ll talk to someone who knows the product.
- Parts on the shelf, always. Production runs every week. Five years from now, if something needs replacing, we’ll still have what you need.
- Made in America. Steel, welds, powder coat, and final assembly — all done in the United States.
“We purchased 4 of these for our Florida condo. They’ve been outdoors 24/7 since October 2023, through multiple Florida storms with high winds and driving rain — the systems have not moved, and the net tension hasn’t slackened. Comparable and perhaps better than the heavy-duty name-brand systems out there.”

Shipping & Lead Time
Most orders ship within 1-3 business days from in-stock inventory. If we need to fabricate yours, plan on 3-5 business days before it leaves the shop. Have a delivery deadline? Give us a call before ordering — we’ll confirm a realistic lead time for your zip code.
Common Questions
Is this regulation for tournament play?
Yes. The system meets USAPA tournament specs: 22 feet wide, 36 inches at the posts, 34 inches at the center.
How long does setup take?
Plan on 30 to 45 minutes for the initial assembly. Subsequent breakdown and re-setup takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Can one person move it?
The system weighs 225 pounds. With the optional locking casters, a single person can roll it across a court — but between the length and the weight, it’s much easier to manage with two people on either end.
Do I really need the locking casters?
Only if you’ll be moving the net. If the system is going to be installed and left in place, skip the wheels and save the money. Add them if you’ll be moving it between courts or in and out of storage.
Can wheels be added later?
No. Each system is built specifically for the wheel option you select — post heights differ between the wheeled and non-wheeled configurations.
How does the warranty work?
Five years on the steel frame, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Where do replacement parts come from?
Directly from our shop. We build these systems and stock the parts on-site.
Can you build a custom size?
Yes. Call us with your specifications.
How does it ship?
Orders of 1-2 nets typically ship ground. Orders of 3 or more nets ship by LTL freight.
Have questions? CALL US.
You’ll reach the people who actually build these nets — not a call center, not a service queue. We’re a US company in Oaks, Pennsylvania, and we’re around before the sale and after.

Anonymous (verified owner) –
I was asked by my Florida condo HOA to investigate replacing our 4 lightweight, outdoor, moveable pickleball nets because they were requiring regular replacement due to wind and weather damage. After doing extensive research online, speaking with a purchaser of these nets for outdoor use in a northern state, and querying many aspects of the Spartan nets in terms of quality, manufacturing, customer service, specifications, and other aspects, we purchased 4 of these net systems without the wheels.
The nets have now been in use outdoors 24/7 since we received them in October 2023. They are a light years upgrade from the nets we replaced and the quality, heft, and stability have endured very well thus far despite several Florida storms we have experienced with high winds and driving rains – the systems have not moved nor has the tension on any of the net cables slackened! Honestly, the only con I can state at this point is that the small bolt holes in the frames show rust due to weather exposure. This does not affect the integrity of the structure and is more cosmetic, which we plan to address with Rustoleum touch up spray paint… not a big deal or major concern at all!
These nets are comparable and perhaps even better for the price than the heavy duty, name brand net systems out there. We have a very large and active group of pickleball players in our community and I can say with confidence that everyone is enjoying playing with these nets in place which provides a high quality of playing experience.
Lastly, I will say that the owner/manufacturer of Spartan Athletic Co., Shawn, provides excellent customer service in support of this product. If interested in this excellent net system, talk to Shawn… highly recommend these Spartan nets!
